Ground answers in your material
Retrieve relevant information from a collection of documents.
IN THIS LESSON
- Understand when a knowledge base is useful.
- Test whether your material supports the question being asked.
Make information retrievable
A knowledge base organizes source material for retrieval. It is useful when a workflow needs relevant passages from a larger collection rather than one fixed prompt containing everything.
Prepare the source material
Add the documents your process needs and check their processing state. Clear, current source material is more useful than a large collection of duplicates or obsolete instructions.
Inspect retrieval before generation
Test a question whose answer you know exists in the material. Inspect the returned context before adding a generation step. Then test a question the documents cannot answer and decide how the workflow should handle missing evidence.
Try it
Use a short FAQ document. Ask one supported question and one unrelated question. Configure the process to acknowledge missing information instead of treating every answer as supported.
